Cheap Super Bowl Ticket Prices On The Verge

Update 2: Now that we are in the final days before the NFL 2012 Super Bowl, ticket prices are finally starting to fall. Superbowl 2012 ticket prices on Stubhub have fallen as low as $2,000 and it’s expected to go even lower as the day of the match approaches. We’ll update right here if we do indeed go in the sub-2000 region.

Update: Super Bowl ticket prices are remaining strong despite the Championship games well behind us. Stubhub shows that the lowest ticket is $2,445 and that they have 3217 tickets left. We will keep checking the status of the 2012 Super Bowl ticket prices and update here in the days ahead.

Super Bowl XLVI tickets are officially on sale and the ticket prices are already through the roof. As of 2:30 PM ET today, popular online ticket vendor StubHub showed that the lowest price available for a ticket was $2450. Prices usually start rather high on the day after the Championship games but with a highly anticipated rematch between the Patriots vs Giants in this year’s Super Bowl, fans might be hard pressed to find any tickets if they wait around longer.

The 2012 Super Bowl will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, on Sunday February 5 at 6:30 PM EST. Analysts have pointed out that in recent years the prices dropped leading up to the actual Super Bowl game so the advice to fans on the budget has been to wait around until the initial hype diminishes.

Of course there is no guarantee that such a tactic won’t end up backfiring with this year’s highly anticipated showdown between the New England Patriots vs NY Giants. The two teams famously squared off in the 2008 Super Bowl in which the Patriots were huge favorites going in, in a season where they were undefeated. The New York vs Boston rivalry is perhaps most famous in famous, but recent years have elevated the rivalry onto new realms for American Football as well and even basketball to some extent.
